My first EUB...!!! Looking for Designing and building tips

Hi i've been working on this project for few months, mostly on the design part. I'm building an 5 string EUB 42,5" scale, and I'm currently working on the neck. I got two pieces of Honduran Mahogany glued together that measures 3.5" X 3.5"X47" and it has been sitting down for months. By far the hardest and most complicated part is the peg head since its a five string bass. I don't want it to be too long or too short and for that reason I think that a two channel peg head, like the one used for some classic guitars, will be stronger and shorter.

Also I'm working on a Dummy head peg to make sure that the design works.

Any words of advise? Any tips?

Thanks men, one question I made the design on my own and I found my self guessing for a lot of the measures and angles, and EUB gives you a lot of freedom when comes to how to building am I right? at least way more that an GB or electric guitar... any special considerations that I may be missing?

the cutting surface on most router bits is 1.5", though you can get longer bits - the shank must be 1/2" don't try this w/a 1/4" shank bit. You can also route from each side using a fence for the router - your neck blank must be very square otherwise the 2 slots will not line up. you can also use a drill press and drill holes from ea. side then clean up w/chisels. nice job so far!

Yes That what I did, but I use a router guide, another problem that I had was that my router is a Fix base and it was a little hard to start the channels for the peg head, so I drilled a hole first and then I routed the channel staring from the hole, I know Its not the optimal but works, after that I used my cordless drill and then I used chisels to work my way thru the piece, Now I just need to refine the neck (peg head), seems like everything is going well, I also waiting for my cousin to stop by, he’s a Luthier and I think I can use some help specially on my peg head , I don’t want to mess up the project when I got options Lol

I've being thinking a lot about the body design, ones I finish the neck, how about this design I think is sexy and light

It got some challenges but I think that is possible
