Like the title says, are Essex/SX bass bodies compatible with Fender-style necks? I have a Lindert bass neck I'd like to put on a P or J body. I have chance to buy an Essex Jazz pretty cheap and might want to use the body w/ upgraded electronics.
What wood does Essex/SX use for their basses?

The neck probably will fit, but not without a bit of shaving of the neck pocket and/or shimming. The SX neck pockets are not consistent from bass to bass, so if the neck fits one tight it may be loose in another. With a little work, it can be done though.
