Many of you know how hard it is to find a great roadcase/ flight case at a great cost. Many of you have also seen me going nuts for the past month trying to find a case for my svt. After searching used and new from various companies from ebay brands, to anvil, to emporer. I have found a company who claims comparable quality at an extremely dirt cheap price.
Generally to when getting a road case a few options come into play.
-What ply(how thick) the abs laminate panels will be.
-What size the latches are, whether they lock, and whether they will be recessed.
-How many handles and whether or not they are recessed.
-How many casters, and whether these also lock or not.
-How thick the foam is, (assuming you don't go for the cheap carpet lining)
-Hard Edges or Ball corners.
-How many rivets
To start a cheap case economy case with nothing recessed no wheels no foam, thin ply, generally go for about 100-150. When you what a case with all the bells and whistles, the price can be almost 400+ dollars.
For a broke musician like me that is too much money.
I stumbled across ewi cases by accident. I noticed the cheap price. A case for my svt with all the features of a $400+ case that was the nearly the same price as the low end cases. ($170)
Specs as per their webpage:

I was in disbelief, but After reading only good reviews I decided to order it.
The case arrived in heavy duty packaging and it when I got it out it sure felt sturdy. First feeling the case and looking it over I saw how much great work went into it. All the rivets are solid, the foam in glued in great. The casters run smooth. Two of the casters are even locking! The butterfly latches work great and one on each side even has room for a pad lock.
The casters were shipped uninstalled to prevent damage(which is a good call!). They came with easy instruction and TONS of extra washers and bolts.
After about 20 minutes i had them screwed in and ready to go!
The next test was would the svt actually fit?
My skinny mother and skinny me (hehe) took the grueling task of taking the svt out of my top of the line, super expensive, high end road case (aka the cardboard box it shipped in)
and placing it in the case. And......
PERFECT FIT.
The top even closed very nicely on it.
The only complaints I have is 1. that one of the two locking casters is very very loose. I am going to email The company and see if theyll send me a replacement. Their customer service btw has been superb on the phone thus far.
The 2nd is that the rubber handles are bit thin on the rubber side and the ewi stamped into them doesnt help much either.
And third I was trying to avoid lifting this puppy out of the case.. But the bottom part is high enough that it blocks the inputs on the amps back. But then again this isnt a live in case..
So overall it looks good. I have a tour in july and that will be the real test. Once Im done with that I will post up the full review! Stay tuned!
