I was under the impression that these were supposed to be ALL-TUBE bass amps, akin to amps like the '59 bassman 4x10. That had me interested as they would be multiple application, like the '59 (great for guitar, etc, etc).

This is not the case and I am now completely disappointed. If you're going to make a super-efficient "class D" power amp, why make it only 150 watts?

Sadness. For the record, covering something in tweed doesn't make it a "tweed amp".

It's the same thing as with Orange Tiny Terror for bass. You dream of small all tube head for bass and then you get hybrid class d thing. But in the next month or two the new EBS all tube head should appear.

I agree with those who are disappointed with Fender's decision to make these new amps hybrid amps with Class power amp sections. All-tube amp versions would have been awesome even if at lower power ratings.

On another note, a third Fender TV bass amp model is also out. While it is also a hybrid, it is 350 watts.

You know, I really wish someone would put out a 35-50 watt all tube bass combo. Something akin to the old B15's. I know I'd buy one, even if only for practicing alone, or recording. It's just a shame, Fender really missed with this one, although I'm sure they'll sell a few, a 150 watt combo is just about as useless as a bass amp could be, to me.

Having 350 watts instead of 150watts might make the 2x10 useful. I'll reserve judgement on these until I can actually one to see if it's just mere cosmetics that make it different from the rest of there hybrid line or not.

All-tube is definitely they way they should have gone though.

Well I was not expecting a low powered full tube amp but still a F_A_I_L
Just the little things that put me off it

NO HEADPHONE SOCKET
NO pre amp clip led
The passive tone stack - when I turn a knob clockwise I expect more of that thingy, read everything about it, still don't get it, got to use a tone stack calculator !!! So if I turn up the Bass control I get more bass I think, but then if I turn up mid or trebble the bass gets effected ?

How would you expect them to incorporate the first two features while keeping the whole retro look? None of their tweed amps have those two features.

Passive tone stack vs., what? Don't all Fender bass amps come with a passive tone stack? The new TBP-1 based amps have a Var-Q section, but those are modern/modern styled amps. I just can't see installing a bunch of modern features on an amp and wrapping it up in a vintage looking package. The reason they disappoint me and some others is it's divergence from the vintage amp it was supposed to represent. JMO

I think more than half of what Fender is trying to sell with this new bass amp line is the retro look.

They missed the mark completely by not using a tube power amp section (maybe some day they'll figure that one out).

I still have no idea how they sound except for the little ditty they play for the tiny video on their website. If the amp really sounds good and people like the look, it may actually still sell. Who knows?

I am so disappointed once again I feel like the bass playing community at large gets shafted again with a hybrid instead of an all tube offering. I feel its beyond the point of B*#$%#*T that bassists worldwide have very few all tube amps to choose from where as guitards seem to have endless choices of decent lower cost all tube heads and combos. There obviously is a market for more all tube heads/combos for bass what gives?

Maybe bass players need to petition Fender to make an all tube combo. Their product development team may not realize the desire for such a product by bass players.

I'm with you, every company and their cousin puts out hybrid amps out the wazoo! I'm not really interested in the hybrid amp (or Solid State amps) myself. A 100 to 150 watt all-tube combo (retro style or otherwise) would be of interest to me.

I was excited about these when we got the promo posters in the store. i was especially excited to see the 210 combo. But when I saw the price, I was instantly put off. If they kept the street price at about $599 (for the 2x10), I think they would have had something here.

For those of you looking for an all tune version, what about getting the actual 59 Bassman Reissue? Granted you would probibly have to put new speakers in it to handle the low end, but I have plugged into my guitar player's Bassman and the tone is just great at low volumes.

Just a thought...
