Double Bass Does anybody know this bass?

Have you tried a Dean upright bass? Not too hard to get in Australia.

I play an NS Bass and it's pretty awesome. But I think that might be outside your budget.

Oh and message the ebay seller for the other one, ask if he can get a more realistic price for you (if you're serious about buying one, that is). The exchange rate is pretty good at the moment and rarely gets better than this.

Have you ever shipped an upright bass? I had to ship my double bass and a few other things to Germany and it cost me over $1500.00 with Rock-it cargo. assuming it is packaged for shipment it must be over 6 feet tall and 2 feet wide. if you put those dimensions in UPS.com shipping from america to australia it comes out to just about $1000.00 US. I doubt that he's making money on the shipping but UPS sure is.

So not exactly a timely response... but I got a BSX Allego. After being a BG player for 10 years I thought some real lessons on the EUB would help, and I found a bloke that played in orchestras all his life, much better than trying to teach myself and get bad habits and rubbish intonation!
