How do I get the tone I'm looking for?

I'm looking for a tone like

but I just can't. :/

I'm using a Fender Rumble amp and it only comes with three knobs (bass, mids and treble) for me to tinker with, but I just can't seem to find the right setting to emulate that tone.

I'm using a Squier Jazz, and I know that the bassist in the video is using a P bass. Is there any EQ setting I could use to get close to that tone? Would switching to flats help?

Please remember that while you have a good starter kit, you'll never get "professional" results from that rig.

That said, EQ-wize it sounds like a bit of a bump on bass, mids just a bit more, and highs rolled pretty far back.

But most of the tone on that song is technique. That's a pretty light fingertip pop with very tight muting, either by using the fretting fingers or perhaps even pick hand palm muting. The notes are of a short duration with a very tight envelope. (I've covered it in a couple of bands.)

You might work more on how you're playing it than what you're playing it through.

that bassist is actually playing a telecaster bass with the stock humbucker in the neck position. they thump pretty well and don't have much highs at all. he also has his bridge cover on backwards. for some reason, it just bothers me how so many people have put them back on that way.
