Please see this [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] billed as a 1978 Fender Precision (all original). I'm mostly curious about the bridge, since it is stamped with the Fender logo.

It has no strings but the neck plays smoothly.
Nice one.
Maybe they meant 87. Looks like it could have been one of the deluxe/special/whatever basses from the 80s with the bat-wing bridge.
He's claiming a serial # of S8xxxxx on an all-original bass, so it's supposed to be a '78
This thing has potential for hotness. I'm not keen on the bridge however.
Do you intend on picking this up pkmoor?
Fender sold that bridge (called 'the Claw') as an upgrade. Fender didn't put it on their basses, though the Precision Specials had a smaller brass bridge and that gold string tree. That headstock logo looks wrong, though.
