Iron Ether looper interest?

hey TB effects junkies.

so, if you don't know how awesome Taylor Livingston's (Iron Ether) stuff is, well.... shame on you. he's the man. so far he's done very interesting some takes on fuzz, tremolo and low pass filter pedals. officially. some lucky buggers have ordered some custom stuff off of him that just looks beautiful.

i like loopers, but i hate the size or feature set or interface of pretty much all of the ones i've used. the useful ones (Boomerang, Line 6 M9/DL4) were either too large or had way more features then i wanted.

i asked Taylor if he'd be into making a smaller sized enclosure simple one loop box. sort of like the Zvex Lo-Fi Loop Junky. he said he could do one for around $175, but would need at least a 5 person commitment to justify the build/design time and expense.

i was just interested in a little box that does one loop and maybe has a lo-fi knob. if there's other stuff that's a deal breaker and doesn't add a lot to the cost i'm definitely open to suggestions from people interested.

anybody into this? post here and/or pm me and i'll get at Taylor if there's any questions.

i would think that it would be at least a month, maybe a bit more before we'd put an order in with Taylor. i'm paying off a bass right now so i'm not quite ready to pay off one yet too.

yeah. what we had talked about was even a bit simpler than that. pretty much the same idea as a Zvex Lo-Fi-Junky. same form factor is what i had in mind, an MXR sized enclosure on it's side. he said that any smaller would give you a problem with the two switches being too close to each other.

an overdub wasn't something that we'd talked about. if we get enough people committed to this then i'll bring that up, see if it would make it cost prohibitive.

Overdub is not possible with the analog looper technology, so that's why I was not able to take on Bjazzman's project. A digital looper with long recording time, overdub, and high audio quality is just not possible outside of a massive company's budget, unfortunately.

Also, as I noted in our earlier PM exchange (did you not receive my responses?), the Boomerang switches are their own design and not available to anyone else, so it wouldn't be possible to use them.

yeah i din't get the response. but anyway what other switches would be similar to the 'rang? i find the click switches annoying(a la zvex) for looping but if there were something that you could press easily that would be better. i would sacrifice the no overdub thing if it could feel similar to like the m9/boomerang switches. the akai headrush is better than the lo fi as far as feel but the button is too small imo
