NBD: a Fenderbird Jazz??

This is a bass that I had conceived while finishing my first Fenderbird: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=707961

This is a silverburst Epiphone Thunderbird with a mahogany body. The neck is from a Geddy Lee Jazz. Everything else is stock so far.

The pickups are really hot! They have as much output as my Stingray!
It is much brighter than my other Fenderbird....but then again it doesn't really sound vintage either...I like it a lot!

The neck was fitted and the bass was setup by Scott Bond at http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=707961 in Carpentersville, IL....I am really pleased with their work.

I have some chrome pickup surrounds I could use...I like the chrome look, but the black makes a nice contrast.

OK, I think I am done with Fenderbirds (and Thunderbirds) I hope :)

Very Cool Bass! Digging that block neck.

Here's one of mine, Duncan passive soapbars.

And the next two. These are as close as I can get to Entwistle's original. The black one will have Bart pups, it's Jumbodbassman's. The coral one will be using original1966 Thunderbird/Embassy pickups, bridge, tailpiece and tuners.

Dude! That silverburst Fenderbird is awesome! I have the same Epi Tbird in silverburst sitting here at home.I`ve been waiting to turn into a Fenderbird,I`ve just been short on the cash. You really nailed it with that Geddy Lee neck! I was looking for a jazz neck with black block inlays to match with that body too! Awesome job!

soooo cool. one of the best fenderbirds i've seen. thank god for the limited upper fret access, or i'd have to start spending $$ in pursuit of one myself!

Thee is an Epiphone Thunderbird up on eBay right now with a broken neck. I bought my silverburst from the same place. It is probably brand new (like mine was)...but the neck was broken in shipping. The current bid is at $99...if you would want to make a Fenderbird and happen to have an appropriate neck...here's a cheap body!

OK, I am not sure if this is going to do me any favors as far as people thinking I'm nothing but a total hack....but I gave the Fenderbird its first good and appropriate workout today.

The gig is a corporate "picnic" with mostly employees providing entertainment. My band (the four of us on the left in the video) usually grab some other employees and quickly put together some tunes for the gig. Is it perfect? not even close...but we did have fun! ...and pretty good for only one rehearsal and one run through total before we played it live...

I figure that I would jump in whole hog....with all apologies to JAE...I present..."The Real Me" @ 1:37 in the following video:

...and yes...we are in Chicago....GO BEARS!
