NEW BASS DAY(AGAIN)!

my new project bass showed up Thursday, i just haven't had time to upload pics until today. it's a JB Player Musicman style 5 string.

here's what it looked like straight out of the box it shipped in


bolted the neck on to check out everything

here's what's wrong with it right now:

missing the G tuning key


nut is broken at the B string slot


missing strap button by the bridge


the tone knob broke while i was testing it out because i wasn't thinking and turned it the wrong way

other than that, there's some fret wear, and a small chip missing from the edge of the fretboard right below the ninth fret.

tentative plans include fixing all of the above, plus upgrading the Pup that's in it, adding a second Pup, and wiring it to be vol/vol/tone. i'm also going to put the output jack on the bottom of the body instead of the front, and cover up the new routing with a custom pickguard.

yeah, i'm not really a fan of the headstock either. i was just looking at it a few minutes ago, thinking about taking my jigsaw to it...

as for the soldering thing, yeah, i've known how to solder since i was a kid.

i've got a j Pup on it's way to me to put in the neck position, and a replacement tuner on it's way already. probably going to custom build an aluminum nut for it.

Okay, it's been a really crazy year full of a psycho ex, police, and court, so I haven't had a lot of time or money. Just wanted to upload what I've been able to accomplish so far...

and just today, I filed down and put on a graphite nut that I bought on evilbay for $8. I went with that because building and filing my own aluminum one was going to cost too much and take way too long.
