Looking to trade for 6-string bass or a lesser P bass with cash my way.

7lbs. 9.1oz.

Ebony board, no face dots. Neck appears to be quarter sawn and roasted. Alder body. Hardcore aged.

Currently strung with flats.

Made in Germany and feels every bit of it. Solid to the core. Of note, this is a passive bass but has a battery trap door in the event you'd want to mod it to active. Includes original Sandberg gig bag.

There are a few mild indentations on the back of the neck. You can feel that they are there. I tried to photograph the area but could not really see them. Not sure if they are part of Sandberg’s hardcore aging process but thought I should mention in the name of full disclosure.

This is a nice bass, but I play my six almost exclusively at home and gig with my 5-string Jazz.

I’m not sure what to offer. Do you have a trade value?
Hi,

This is what I sent another TBer who asked the same question:

Hi,

Sandberg has a configurator. If you build this bass it comes out to 2813 euros ($3197). You could also figure in a wait time of 6-12 months. This bass also has the added option of a battery compartment. I have no idea what Sandberg charges for this option.

Having said that, I am not valuing the instrument anywhere near that high. Honestly, I think the value is around $1500. In fact, Guitar Center is selling a non-aged VS4 for $1499.

They are also selling a hardcore aged Califoria VM model for $2499.

I do not know what explains the $1,000 price difference between these two basses. Is it the hardcore aging and the addition of a MM pickup? I really don't know.
I'm really at sort of at a loss coming up with a trade value for this instrument because, as the GC example above demonstrates, used Sandberg prices tend to be all over the map.

Having said that, I think a trade value of around $1500 seems about right. If others think differently, please chime in.
