Up for sale is an incredibly unique and ultra-rare piece of 1980s instrument history: an Apex 4-String Electric Bass, designed by the iconic French luthier Kamel Chenaouy in Paris and meticulously built in Japan by Kasuga. Featuring a striking, avant-garde body shape and a deeply premium spec list, these instruments were manufactured in highly limited numbers and rarely show up on the market today.
The construction of this bass is absolutely world-class, highlighting a rock-solid maple neck-through-body configuration coupled with an exquisite striped ebony fretboard, triangle MoP inlays and a solid brass nut. The hardware is equally heavy-duty, featuring a unique, massive solid brass bridge that is partially recessed/countersunk through the body to facilitate a string-through design for maximized sustain.
The electronics layout is an absolute marvel, mirroring the legendary Neil Moser circuit configurations found on vintage USA B.C. Rich instruments. The layout provides massive tonal variance through a highly interactive multi-switch matrix:
- Controls: Independent stacked Volume/Tone pots for each pickup
- Switching: 3-Way pickup selector toggle, 6-Way rotary "Varitone" switch, independent Series/Parallel switches for each pickup, and an Out-of-Phase switch for when both pickups are engaged.

Please note that one of the two proprietary dual-split-coil P-bass style pickups currently has a dead coil and outputs low/no signal. The bass is priced accordingly to allow the next owner to either rewiring the existing lead or drop in a replacement split-coil unit.
