Hi-fi is an option, but certainly not the only tone it has. The stocking thing is a downer. I was able to talk to some trusted cats that were playing them then ordered one. No disappointments.Looking at a review of the Tecamp Puma 1000 review by Bassplayer, they say the word hi-f springs to mind when talking about the amp, and I'm looking for a bit of a warmer sound. Plus there's nobody near me that stocks it, so I wouldn't be able to try one out. I actually really like the Carvin, sounds like it has a variety of good sounds. Looking around though can;t find anywhere in the uk that stocks it
I really appreciate all the responses, but I've had a lot of suggestions. What are people's thoughts on the little mark tube, mb fusion 500 and portaflex pf500?

I haven't played the 500 head. I was looking for a small practice amp and tried out a small Rumble not expecting much. I never liked Rumbles before. I was pleasantly surprised by the tone. I tried out a 200 combo and it sounded pretty darn good to my ears. I'm saving my money for the 500 watt combo. They are inexpensive, very light and sound pretty good. Plus you can add another cab if you want.
A lot of people like the new Rumbles . My suggestion is go check it out and see what you think.
Well I've had a couple of rumbles as practice amps, nothing special but get the job done. But that definitely sounds encouraging.
Another vote for the GK Fusion 800 - great little amp, having 2 channels is nice because I can set one for clean and one for warm/gritty. Huge amount of power if you need it.
Actually I'm ruling out the fender, there are only a couple of extra features from my rumble 75 combo. The GK seems to be getting the most recommendations.
Just in case you don't realize. .. The NEW Rumble amps are Class D & have different pre amps compared to the older Rumble amps. I was impressed with em too.
Remember that the TH500 has same power section as - I think - the Shuttle 900w, the tec amp 900, the GK mb800.......

UK?......have you tried the Orange TB500?......I have that one too, pounds the sound man, pounds it!...warm or grindy, loud light weight(not a micro light though)

I'm well aware that the rumble is class D, what I said was that it has nearly exactly the sam features on the front panel as my rumble 75 combo, and that is nothing special. I've heard the tb500 is meant to be really good. However, I'm looking for lightweight cabs alongside compact heads - and from what I hear the obc410 is a bit of a dinosaur.

Also, I've been told it dances about like a pea on a drum on top of the amp. Well I already have a hot signal, and the genz benz has an active eq?
I do really like the genz benz, but I cant find anywhere in the UK that stokcs genz benz 4x10s - and those that do say they're no longer available. The shuttle 6.2 is 375W @ 8 ohm, and to get the full 600w i'd have to use 2 cabs (with 4x10's being unavailable). So, as much as I like it, might have to rule the Genz Benz out.
TB500 is switchable - a full 500watts into either 1x8ohm or 2x8 ohm or 1x4ohm cabs....flexible

I don't know why these are not more looked at. I am getting either the SB200H or the SB500H next week for myself. I had decided on the SB500H, then changed to the 200 as I really like how small it is - smaller than the GK. But I may change it back to the 500 as it would satisfy ANY gig for me.
You know what, thinking about it, none of this gear is particularly cheap. If a number of years down the line I join a different band or start playing larger venues, I might need more power. And I don't want to have to go out and buy more or update gear. Therefore, I'm going for an 800w head - there isn't a th800, so it's now between the little mark tube 800, the pf800 and the MB fusion 800.
Hang on, the pf800 is 800w at 4 ohms, but the PF 410HLF is 800w at 8 ohms, so really that's only 400w when using these two together, right? The st 410 is 800w at 4 ohms, but that is by no means a light weight cab lol

I hear ya, the TB500 is not micro, but you don't have to use it with the OBC410.....works great with any cab....see my avatar pic
and at 11lbs it doesn't "dance about" , certainly way less than a 2-4 lb micro would.....mine never moves on the rat fur, might on a Ttolex cab, but a mouse pad will fix that..
