    I wouldn't think it does anything, going to empty pins. Maybe it does something on the 500E upwards. Those models have an EQ bypass and a mids EQ switch.

I bought this from a friend for $200. Its a 1971 Univox U-1246 5 tube bass head in the blue tolex. This is by far my favorite amp. However, it is only 40 watts and not loud enough for live gigs. I have recently acquired a 1970s 2x15 Univox cabinet that was recommended to pair with this head in the ads of the time.

This is how I found this amp in the pawn shop. Someone spray painted almost the entire amp black. Got it for $150 since the pawn shop didn't know what it was.

Pre-CBS AB763 circuit pawn shop find. I built a open-backed cabinet for it to use with guitar. It sounds very good with guitar, but only decent with bass. It now has new grill cloth. I re-capped it and bypassed the cap 'o death.
