    I wouldn't think it does anything, going to empty pins. Maybe it does something on the 500E upwards. Those models have an EQ bypass and a mids EQ switch.

On right, pre-1988 Fender Squier bought used, frets ripped out, puttied over, arms cut to emulate the Geddy Lee teardrop, didn't work great, so holes drilled, painted yellow with pickups taken from Rick knock-off pictured left.
