The Official Fender Precision Bass Club (Part 8)

Hi all, I think this goes in this club, if not let me know. I needed a bass to play at work, you know one for home, one for a projects, one for work plus a couple more... Anyway, I found a American Pro II loaded body for a couple hundred bucks and ordered one of the b-stock maple necks...

Well, I just got notified that my EB-BSx pickup shipped, and I picked up some new pots, including a push-pull, so hopefully, I can get things wired up this weekend.

My 74 Eb-4l showed up last week. I'm a special education teacher, and I bought it as a bass to keep at school and play with the kids, so the Badass bridge had to go. I swapped it out with a gold Babicz that was on sale. I also ordered a Novak EB-BSx pickup with a gold cover and some gold tuners...

I used Titebond 3 to repair my broken Thunderbird neck and have had no issues.

I guess at this point, especially considering the cost of the appropriate tuners, someone could cut slugs in the shape of the slots, glue them in, veneer the front and back, and drill for traditional tuners. If they wanted it to look pretty, they could pick up a Gibson inlay veneer for the...

The slotted head is already a weak design as illustrated by your break. By having the tuner go a toss the slot it out it in "double shear" and spreads the load from string tension/reduces the twist of the tuner. There is a set of slotted tuners on eBay right now.

The EB-4L showed up today and I'm stoked. It is in better shape than the pictures indicated and plays well to my novice hands. The only other bass I've played recently is my Epiphone Vintage 60s Thunderbird. I really like that bass but this one just feels different, in a good way. The EB is...

Thanks for the tips! I'm still flexible on pickups, just exploring my options. I snagged a gold Babicz Full Contact 3pt for less than the hipshot was going for to try that. I'm thinking of aged Pelham blue nitro with all gold hardware and a white pickguard when I refinish, so I will fill the...

Yeah, I'm going to give it a try and see how I like it. I did find that about two years ago, Novak had an eb-4l pickup he was making; I reached out this morning to see if he would make me one. If so, I got to track down the Gibson 3-way blade switch or a close proximity to it.

I guess I'll start hanging out here now. I recently picked up a bass for the first time since high school and having a lot of fun learning just how bad I am at it. I like to tinker on things and this morning I was stuck at home with a sick kid surfing Reverb looking for a project. I dropped...

    Looking for EB-4L Pickup/Wiring Suggestions

Yeah, that's the bass, and it is a DiMarzio. I'll definitely give it a try.

    Looking for EB-4L Pickup/Wiring Suggestions

So I was doom-scrolling Reverb this morning and dropped what I thought was a lowball offer on a pretty beat 73' EB-4L. Long story short, I guess it wasn't low enough because the seller accepted, and now I own a project bass. The original pickup and 3-way tone switch are long gone, and I can't...

    Thunderbird Club

I was just out to Columbus and Dayton in December for a funeral. It was kinda sad to see many of the old farms leveled and generic houses or industrial/retail centers built up. It is a huge difference from when I lived in Ohio back in 1999. Developers are trying in my area; luckily, the...

It was only a minute lol. Yeah, I'm from Vegas and hate the cold. My wife really wanted to move back to Colorado in 2020 so I'm up here with the snow. Give me 110 degrees anytime. Yep.

Sure, i'd love a number. Here is my newly repaired 2023 Epiphone! It's a bit chilly and foggy this morning, I'll have to get some beauty shots on a more dramatic sunrise.
