Looking for EB-4L Pickup/Wiring Suggestions

So I was doom-scrolling Reverb this morning and dropped what I thought was a lowball offer on a pretty beat 73' EB-4L. Long story short, I guess it wasn't low enough because the seller accepted, and now I own a project bass. The original pickup and 3-way tone switch are long gone, and I can't find replacements anywhere. I don't care about originality, as I think I will refinish it in a satin cherry and am considering some period-correct inlays. I considered VT with a 3-way blade switch and a Novak EB-BSx, but I know nothing about bass pickups and have only wired a couple of guitars. So, if you were going to build a single pickup Gibson EB-style bass, what would you suggest?

The DiMarzio is supposed to be a big improvement over the original sidewinder.

But the EB4 didn’t come with a sidewinder; it came with an awesome quad-coil pickup that is made of unobtanium.

I hated the DiMarzio. If you hate it too, there are other options. Sentell makes a killer sidewinder, and 916 makes a killer Neo dual-coil.
