You won the lottery. What's the collection of basses you amass?

Hmmm...A LPB TF fretless, and a Custom Flametop PJ with maple neck w/block inlays

When to fire a band member?

You need to let her go now...It will NOT get better and she will bring others in band down too. Start a fresh.

    Which FENDER P to buy?

I voted AM Classic...but if it were me I would buy Fender MIJ...good luck on your decision if you buy any...

What dots on the side for fretless ?

I never said it wasn't. What I was getting at is use the dots to get used to no fretlines so that in the future if you wanted to not have any markers you can make it an easier transition. I have played both and enjoyed the transition myself.

What dots on the side for fretless ?

I would have mine dots at the fret lines only. that way I could reference and get used to it. Then later get a real fretless.

For those that use rounds and flats..

I think it depends on your preference of how they both feel first... then the tone.

Ampeg RB-210, Fender Rumble 500, or Hartke HD500 combo amps?

This 2x over... (although I prefer the Fender myself)

    Epiphone Viola bass

Because when you cut your slots for strings they are not exact and also will have a resistance in the nut, so when the string is over the fret they are all crossing the same spot. It really does help. (the nut in front of the fret only keeps the string in its place. )

    Epiphone Viola bass

Zero fret is much better then a nut actually. I have never seen a Zero fret too high or low for action. Plus you will be more precise on the intonation setup. ( I say this because I have built a few also)

    Consistent tone across the strings

Do you have any pics of the bass to see the setup of pickup and maybe a short video of how you are playing? A few factors needed. Just asking.

Mostly A Pick Or Your Fingers?

Fingers 80% - Pick 20% But don't use a pick to pick your nose, use your finger...lol

The curse of having a great 4-string jazz bass

Keep what you have and the setup you like. Then go get yourself a nice P bass and string it for your needs.
