    Schecter pickup change

Hi guys. Just wanted some advice on changing pickups on a Schecter bass (Stiletto Studio 5). This is how it looks like. It comes with EMG-HZs (passives) and an EMG 18v preamp. I want to swap the pickups to something I'd like more, and I don't know if EMG is the best choice for me. However, I'm...

    Harley Benton Enhanced Series

I'm actually glad you have good experiences with this hardware because that's mostly what was preventing me from purchasing one (along with weight I guess). This is also a problem with the Sire basses - there aren't any drop-in replacements that I know of for Sire tuners/bridges.

    Harley Benton Enhanced Series

I'm looking for a new 5 string and this seems like a very good candidate... A quick look at the P-bass page tells me they now use aftermarket tuners and bridges? I looked it up and they're some obscure stuff from a brand called WSC. However, the specifications on their website are really well...

    New Fender pedals 2018

Not sure if it's allowed to resurrect an old thread, but did anyone get any of these? I'm actually particularly interested in the pugilist... 2 gain circuits for 100$? Sign me up.

A Question About Noise-Gates and Bias Controls on Fuzzes

That's a good distinction to make... It's all much clearer now Lol yep, truth is I'm a fan of your pedals and I've watched videos about the buzzz and that's how I picked up that bad habit. Thanks for the replies ;)

A Question About Noise-Gates and Bias Controls on Fuzzes

Oh okay. Thanks Brian and Frank! I understand it much better now:hyper:

A Question About Noise-Gates and Bias Controls on Fuzzes

So if I starve the voltage on a fuzz pedal with a bias control, that means there wouldn't be any hiss, right? For example, when the Mini is under-biased, or in this video: Around 5:17, the pedal is used with low bias and there is a gated effect. However he doesn't stop playing for long enough...

A Question About Noise-Gates and Bias Controls on Fuzzes

Ah, but that does mean the signal is "gated", right? I mean, there would theoretically be no hum or hiss or any unwanted noise.

A Question About Noise-Gates and Bias Controls on Fuzzes

Henlo. I am a sucker for gated fuzz, and recently I'm seeing more and more pedals that have a bias control, or a voltage starve control which can get that broken-up sound that I like. I also saw a video of Brian Hamilton of SS/BS on Pedals&Effects saying that a bias control acts like a...

Help - Learning a difficult, fast song

Thank you for your reply, Mushroo. It isn't my first time transcribing anything, it's just the first time I transcribed something this complex. I want it note for note; in the past it was much easier, because I just figured out the riffs and the occasional fills - but this song has a riff that...

Help - Learning a difficult, fast song

Hey guys. How do you learn a difficult song? I'm trying to transcribe somehow a 2-minute song that contains mostly fast slapping, which means a lot of notes. My knowledge in writing music sheets is very basic, i.e. can't do that with funky slap stuff and weird syncopations. Should I just tab it...

Seymour Duncan SMB-4D vs EMG 35DC

Hi guys, just wanted to hear some opinions. I want to install new pickups in my bass (don't care about digging in the wood), and I'm trying to decide between these two. I'll have two pickups - one in the sweet spot and one probably really close to the neck. I absolutely love the sound of a flea...

Installing MM Pickups on a non-MM Bass

I know that all these matter, me friend. But if you told Geddy to play a stingray and then a jazz bass, anyone who knows those basses could tell the difference. Point is I'm trying to get the musicman sound with those pickups, and I don't see why replacing the current ones is a bad idea. Please...

Installing MM Pickups on a non-MM Bass

Thanks for replying. :) Why do you guys think that? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 80% of the sound comes from the pickups, 10% comes from their placement and the last 10% from playing style. I own the bass in black and I think the pickups lack definition and punch. The construction is...

Installing MM Pickups on a non-MM Bass

Again, thank you for replying. I'm not concerned so much about hiding the ugly wood holes - maybe there's some metal plates I can get the guys there to fit me bass. It's an ESP LTD B-50 - it is outfitted with P/Js and 24 frets (which complicates things a bit as there's less room). Do you think...
