Need Help: Powering 2 cabs w/ different impedance!

Greetings...wired in parallel, the impedance seen by the amp will be about 2.67 ohms. Question: is your amp stable down to 2-ohms? Does it have a 2-ohm rating? If not, wiring the cabs in parallel will likely damage the amp. Wiring cabs in series presents a 12-ohm impedance to the amp, which will...

    Acoustic B600H

Hey...I picked one up last weekend at Guitar Center. I am VERY impressed with the impression of POWER and depth of bass. The amp is stable down to 2-ohms (the 600 watt rating.) I'm driving a custom designed and built bottom that goes down to 17-hz. It's like thunder.

Ohms and extensions - Answers needed!

DC resistance (R1 x R2) divided by (R1 plus R2) is not exactly the same as AC impedance. That is a different formula that is frequency dependent. Far more complicated for the layman to figure.

Oh, by the way. If you want your rig to sound twice as loud, 10X power is needed! OMG

Ohms and extensions - Answers needed!

Basic stuff:Amps impress a voltage (electrical pressure) upon the cab, which represents the load to the amp. The lower the impedance of the cab, the greater the load it is to the amp. In other words 4-ohms is a greater load than 8-ohms. Fortunately, properly designed amps put out more power when...

How do extreme temperatures affect speakers?

If the driver is cooled with ferro-fluid low temperatures can increase the viscosity of the fluid and the speaker will respond sluggishly. Suggest running low signal (a few watts) through driver to warm it up. Should only take a few minutes.

    Acoustic B600H

Greetings bassists... I have spent over 4-decades designing and building amps and bottoms. I can help with questions about what goes with what, how much power will be developed, et cetera. For instance: doubling amp power only nets you 3db of increased spl (sound pressure level). For one stack...
