    P pickup half quiet

So I just went to Lowes to get a real meter since the members of Talkbass have been so helpful. None in stock, not one. With the 2 F5 tornados that recently touched down here they must have been all bought up and be out in the field. My bandmate who works for AT&T is doing 12 hr 7 day week work...

    P pickup half quiet

I have a really old meter with a needle thatI use to check grounding like the bridge wire being attached properly. I'll use it tonight and see what happens. Or I could buy a real meter. Thanks again.

    P pickup half quiet

Thank you all for your help. I don't see any difference in magnet strength between the two sides. I got it Friday and installed it Saturday so if it got degaussed it happened at another time. With no magic bullet answer it's going back but the G and D strings sounded great so I look forward to...

    P pickup half quiet

I just installed a Fender Original P pickup and the E/A side is quiet. It's brand new but has been in stock for several years. The G/D side has strong output but not the other half. Enough to hear and tune using a tuner but a big drop in volume. Using a magnifying glass I saw no breaks. I...

The Official Medium Scale Bass Club

I just got this about a week ago. I plays, feels, and sounds just right to me.

    NBD EB-3

Those basses look so cool. I first noticed the Gibson version in the hands of Trevor Bolder (correct spelling?) and Dennis Dunaway. Congrats.

    NBD Medium Scale P Bass

Immigrant, thank you for your advice. I inquired about your Aria but the nut width scared me off. Yes this is a MIJ P bass 32" scale. Slightly downsized body. I only found the 30" P bass currently being made in Japan. The 32" ones were Jazz basses but I've only been chasing this bass for the...

    NBD Medium Scale P Bass

Thank you. I thought I was going to have the only NBD thread that no one responded to. For me it's a big deal. My 50's classic feels like a broad sword now. It sound fantastic but for my frame size it's big. This bass looks and sound and feels just right.

    NBD Medium Scale P Bass

I got this off Ebay. I showed it to a local shop and they said it was an '88. Guessing an Alder body, rosewood board, 7.25 radius, in-between 1.5 and 1 5/8nut. It had an early EMG P5 that I replaced with the stock pickup that came on my 50's classic. I feel very fortunate to have got it with...

    New Bass

The double sided tape I used would come loose after awhile that's why I went with industrial velcro. I have a big roll I use for pedals. If you like fooling with small details like I do you could also get an Ebony pen blank and size it to fit and screw it on like normal. Any holes in the body...

    New Bass

I usually use an old black belt for a thumb rest. I cut the size I want then use a sharpie to darken the cut marks. I also file off the sharp edges so it feels smooth. In the past I would use double sided tape to hold it in place. Now though I started using the industrial velcro to hold it in...

2012 RIC 4003 Tone Pot question

When I looked inside my 2012 4003 to chase down excessive hum I found my ground wire from my bridge pickup was not attached. You might want to look inside to make sure they didn't miss something like they did on mine.

    Classic Amplification Ric pickups

My name 53x39 and I'm a recovering guitarist. This is my first post so go easy on me. I've been lurking for some time though. I have a 2011 4003 that I really like but felt the the pickups to be lacking in clarity, dynamics, and evenness. The tone was great but they seemed to be overwound for...
