That looks pretty good. I'm hesitant about drilling into a brand new bass. Velcro or double sided tape may work. I'd much rather deal with residue then leave behind holes.
The double sided tape I used would come loose after awhile that's why I went with industrial velcro. I have a big roll I use for pedals. If you like fooling with small details like I do you could also get an Ebony pen blank and size it to fit and screw it on like normal. Any holes in the body would be covered by a new pick guard should you decide to sell. I do like the feel of Leather though.
