Wow-just picked up a Peavey Databass

Here's what the insides of one look like. Sorta. I mean, there's more in the third section between the front panel and the power amp board sitting in front; it kind has to stack that way because I didn't disconnect all the cables some 13, 14 years ago. That, and this unit is really dirty. I...

Wow-just picked up a Peavey Databass

A heads-up for any tech-folk contemplating taking a soldering iron to this unit: For some bizarre reason, Peavey engineers appear to have a habit of expressing capacitor values incorrectly. An example.... I'm ordering some replacement capacitors for the power supply section, and instead of the...

How do I get cat pee out of grille cloth?

There's stuff called 'Get Serious!' that we use around here. You can find it at PetSmart, et al. It's a tad on the $$ side, but it works like nothing I've ever seen. Removes the pheromone smell that helps an animal recognize favorite pee spots.

The "I got this bass at a pawnshop club."

Do flea market purchases count? If so... I bought this for $35.00 about two weeks before I moved house. Fortunately, the new place has a finished, heated, two-car garage in which to do my projects. As it looked at the market, after I brought it home: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]...

Wow-just picked up a Peavey Databass

Excellent! I fired up the old G4, and in less than 15 seconds found the PDF of the schematics for the Databass, including a service bulletin and the modifications necessary to effect it. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Where to get an amp repaired in Denver / Colorado

I can vouch for that. Ryan comes into my store often for repair parts. Good dude.

Wow-just picked up a Peavey Databass

Sorry for the thread resurrection, here... I did a search for the schematics for one, last night, and this came up on the search results. I have one I bought about 14 years ago; got it and a '91 RI of a '62 Jazz, both for $600. It had a problem where the fan was getting RF into the signal chain...

    Pulling frets.

Yeah... I've seen a picture - I believe it was in Dan Erlewine's book - of a Fender employee standing at a machine with a neck bolted onto it and a great big bar-thing pushing the frets in all at once.

    Pulling frets.

Last I knew, my '66 P was side-loaded (tangs, too), which seemed to be the practice up until the full CBS buyout. So with all this resurgence and rebirth of vintage-style guitars, I figured maybe some of the technique would have been revisited, as well.

    Pulling frets.

Yes, I know there's a ton of available info, but a) I'm at work, and b) I've not been able to find exactly what I need, so here goes... I already have a '66 P and '91 reissue of a '62 Jazz... but no fretless. About a month ago, I found a '96 Squier Jazz languishing in the back corner of a...

    Who are you?

Hey there. I'm Dave. 48. Live near Boulder, CO., originally from Indiana. Drummer that also plays bass, guitar, and a little keyboards. Recording engineer/producer, at one point.
