    No Love For Yamaha Basses?

I have been playing Yamaha basses exclusively for over 15 of my over 50 years of playing bass professionally. I have 3 left handed BBN5L basses and 3 TrbII active. I have not found any bass that has convinced me to switch. If you have the opportunity try one out on a gag.

What second bass do you recommend?

Look into one of the more expensive model Yamaha Bass.

Which micro head has the smoothest response and best low end extension?

Have tried the GB 6 and 9, nice sound, But IMO a bit dull, not in tone (lots of highs and clean) but lacks in energy, grind (even with the tube pre). In a live application the GK MB 500 lifted the energy sound level more than the GB and much more than the Mark III. IMO the GK MB 500 has a good...

    AMPEG/Gallien Kruger

Still like the GK sound. It will be too hard to switch to another amp.

Best amp for the area of $300-400?

Have used GK for 25 years, reliable and good tone; the new MB 210 , MB 115 and MB 212 combos sound good, but there has been some problems with the amps (China), they are fairly new and the bugs still need to be removed. But a used 700Rb, 1001RB, or 800Rb are solid good sounding heads. Look at...

    Aguilar GS 212 or (2) GS 112

I have the GS212, 8 ohms and really like it. I preferred the 8 ohms so I can place a light weight 1 12 combo on top; closer to the ear and getting the full 4 ohm power using it as an extention cab. Although the GS212 is not in the light weight cab class, is not that heavy. If it was 90lbs I...

    GK Combo Shootout...MB210 vs. MB212

Has anyone A/B ed the TC Electronics 500 watt 15" combo against either the MB210 or MB212? Or has anyone even tried one out? Thanks

    GK Combo Shootout...MB210 vs. MB212

Thanks TallBoy, I went back to my old GK800 for a gig last night after a month with a SD800 and a much welcome back sound. Played a Yamaha TRB5 (Lefty) and an Agi GS212 instead my SWR Goliath III and it sounded great; although the SWR sounds better with this setup. But at 59 the additional 30lbs...

    GK Combo Shootout...MB210 vs. MB212

How would you compare the 212 sound to a GK800. I have used a GK800 for 25 years, but I like the 38lbs and one trip idea. Looking to lose some lbs.; with GK800 tone, sound. With money not an issue, what amp or combo sounds most similar to the old GK800. Thanks, Chuck

    Yamaha Owners

Really like the Yamaha's, 4 of my 7 basses are Yamaha. All left handed 5 strings, 3 BBN5LII and one TRB5, flat fret board (high radius) makes it easier to get low action.

    Markbass SD1200 anyone?

With $ not an issue, which amp do you prefer LMT 800 or SD 800?

    Why are Warwicks so clear?

It is the wood, switch the pre amp, guts from a Warwick bass and with another bass; the other bass will not have the mids or highs. I tried this with a Yamaha 5, alder.

    Markbass SD1200 anyone?

I tried the SD800 and 800 tube, each for a set. Turned the tweet up half on my Agi GS212, 8 ohms. Used the 800 tube first, with everything flat,VLE or VPF off. Turned the blend up to 10:00 and the amp sounded great. After 3 songs turned the low down and turned the blend to 11:00 real nice tube...
