I have been playing Yamaha basses exclusively for over 15 of my over 50 years of playing bass professionally. I have 3 left handed BBN5L basses and 3 TrbII active. I have not found any bass that has convinced me to switch. If you have the opportunity try one out on a gag.

Look into one of the more expensive model Yamaha Bass.

Played a Yamaha TRB5 (Lefty) and an Agi GS212 instead my SWR Goliath III and it sounded great; although the SWR sounds better with this setup. But at 59 the additional 30lbs...

How would you compare the 212 sound to a GK800. I have used a GK800 for 25 years, but I like the 38lbs and one trip idea. Looking to lose some lbs.; with GK800 tone, sound. With money not an issue, what amp or combo sounds most similar to the old GK800. Thanks, Chuck

Really like the Yamaha's, 4 of my 7 basses are Yamaha. All left handed 5 strings, 3 BBN5LII and one TRB5, flat fret board (high radius) makes it easier to get low action.

With $ not an issue, which amp do you prefer LMT 800 or SD 800?

It is the wood, switch the pre amp, guts from a Warwick bass and with another bass; the other bass will not have the mids or highs. I tried this with a Yamaha 5, alder.
