    Minnesota Bass Tech?

Jon, feel free to send me a message with what you need done. I do side work on guitars and could take a look at yours if you would like. I'm near Burnsville but I travel to the north side of the cities for work frequently. I can provide references as well if needed. Nathan

When u Run Out of Turns on Truss Rod

One way to kinda "cheat" a bit if you run out of threads is to buy or more likely make some washers that you would drop down over the truss rod to essentially give you some more turns on the truss rod nut. What is happening is that you are running out of threads on your truss rod nut before the...

    Fender Truss nut thread sizes

Dave, before you go ahead and order that kit from Stew Mac I would try running a M5 x .80 tap through a 10-32 nut first. The M5 tap should open up the 10-32 threads enough to work. If you want I can easily do it for you if you want to send me a nut. I work for a machine shop and we can easily...

    Fender Truss nut thread sizes

Dave, a 10-32 and a M5 x 0.8 thread are almost identical. Almost. The 10-32 thread is slightly smaller (.190” major dia vs .197”). So if other words if you use a M5 x 0.8 nut on a 10-32 threaded rod it will thread on but depending on the condition of the rod it may slip. Now if you use a 10-32...

    Bad neck

Your neck may have a M4 thread rather than a 10-32 thread. Did you try matching your old one up with a 10-32 bolt just to make sure that is indeed a 10-32 thread? The M4 truss rod nuts might have a smaller outside diameter. Do you also have a way to measure the old nut vs the new one you just...

Help please with stripped nut? On Squier CV 60's P bass

tubestuff, I just carefully backed the truss rod nut out and it did scratch the sleeve a bit. If it's an issue you can always lightly sand the scratches out with some sand paper wrapped around a cylinder moving up in grits to say 400 and once that's done apply some clear poly or something...

    My Truss Rod Repair

Professor Keller, Some Fender necks have a wooden plug over the truss rod anchor or something that will indicate where the anchor is. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] But unfortunately not all of them do. If you can find a powerful magnet you could try locating the end of the rod with it...
