I just got one of these pickups.I took it to the Ace hardware where in the nuts and bolts section they have a board with alot of nuts and bolts attached. I screwed my bridge adjuster into the 1/4 20 nut to verify it's size. Obviously you can do this at any hardware,home depot etc.

The cabinet is closed and it sounds really nice. I guess I'll have to try a clarus to see if it really is an improvement.

I tried a new setup today for strictly in house use. A Redplate Blackverb 40 head.A 2x12 cab with JBL D120's. I'm using a FDeck hpf with a shadow single pickup. The bass is a 60 yr old Juzek or maybe pre war with Eva Pirazzi weichs. According to the shop I go to, it's tone is a 5 or 6 on a scale...

This bass belonged to John Hurst of San Diego. I took this photo before I started to play bass and he passed away before I got a chance to ask him about it. He got a great tone that I'll always remember. To me it looks like a combination of pickups and if I knew what they were, I'd get the same...

Thank you. The one open seam on this bass has been already taken care of . The shop in Maryland said that while previous repairs were not pretty to put it mildy, they are holding and I'm arranging shipping to San Diego.

The buyer might have known this bass having been a orchestra section player.. With the career the previous owner had, dozens or more players could of known it. An old friend's bass sold beyond it's means because orchestra players knew it's tone.

I'm going to miss staring at that bass. Still, compare prices of basses to violins and it's a joke. 9 K really isn't going to get you much of a violin. Orchestra players would laugh at these numbers. I guess the cost of the work that may go into that bass will quite possibly eclipse the sale...

No, I know. He is like family to me and has been repairing instruments for 40 years. He is being very up front with me about what his expectations are. If this proves too costly, he'll probably say keep it for free.
