Fender Jazz Neck on a G&L Body (L-2000)

Thanks - I'd seen those two Tribute necks on ebay - but the whole idea is to use a maple neck that I can stain to suit a sight problem I have (see comment above) - I did consider buying one & taking the finish off, but it looks like Guitar & Bass Build in the UK offer just what I'm after now -...

Fender Jazz Neck on a G&L Body (L-2000)

In case anyone comes across this thread in the future, I'm ordering a Music Man / Stingray style bass neck from Guitar and Bass Build UK who have just started selling them (so new they're not on their website yet). I'll let you know how i get on.

Fender Jazz Neck on a G&L Body (L-2000)

Thanks @beat. I should have said that the reason I've got the JB neck is that I'm severely visually impaired and bought an unfinished one that I am going to get stained black on every other fret like I did for a MIM P-bass body I bought. Believe me it makes a massive difference for me. I've...

Fender Jazz Neck on a G&L Body (L-2000)

Hello. I've seen a body for a US G&L L-2000 body on ebay here in the UK that I'd like to try with an All Parts Fender Jazz bass (JMO) neck that I've got. Has anyone done similar before? I've had a web search and it appears that to have it fit I may have to adjust the heel and/or pocket, but...

A bridge to fit these screw holes?

Could you recommend me a good bridge then please? The bass I'm building is a p-bass body with a J-bass neck (I prefer the thinner necks, but don't like the off-set J bodies). Would string spacing be an issue?

A bridge to fit these screw holes?

I've recently embarked on an accidental parts P-bass project (I bought the neck and body late one night on ebay - you know the story). I'm pretty new to all of this and want the process to be as simple as possible so I want to use as many of the original screw holes as I can. I was wondering...

Advice for a partially sighted (visually impaired) novice.

Thanks again for all the advice. I am already implementing the ear-training & scales approach that has been recommended by a number of you. I will, however, be continuing to use the tactile tape and higher-visibility/contrast options as I also want to play some tunes and lines sooner rather...

Advice for a partially sighted (visually impaired) novice.

Hi Everyone - Thanks for all the advice so far. Someone else (at Scott's Bass Lesons) recommended the Simandl method too so I will definitely check that out - a quick search through some of the threads here makes it seem quite promising - it's at the lower frets where I'm having the most...

Advice for a partially sighted (visually impaired) novice.

Hi everyone, I’m a relative novice with a visual impairment and thought I’d post to ask for any advice that you might have to help me improve my playing – particularly with locating my fretting-fingers. My sight problems are a little tricky to explain, but basically I have lost much of my...
