Fender Custom Shop... am I missing something?

I'm pretty sure you CAN order exactly what you're looking for through FCS, if you are willing to pay for it. I would guess buying 2 AM pros and swapping necks would be much cheaper though, especially if you're selling the parts you aren't going to use.

What is the bass you'd keep if you had to only have one?

Fender Precision CS 57; being a Pbass guy at heart, I think no further explanation is needed

Tbh, it's the first time I tried the fridge (it was provided by backline). Usually we play smaller venues and I use my Berg HS 210 for that. Great match with the Streamliner as well

Rocking my '57 CS. Tremendous instrument, even its little imperfections kind of make sense as a whole...do I make sense? 100% satisfied.

    Mustang Bass vs P Bass

I am an owner of a Mustang JMJ and a 57 RI Custom shop PBass. My 2 cents: - The basses are certainly similar, tonally. I agree that the Mustang tends to have a sharper attack and maybe a quicker decay; this will also depends on other factors such as setup, strings etc. - With my particular JMJ...

    Fender Custom Shop Club

After having given this a great deal of thought, I've decided to treat myself with a brand spanking new Fender Custom Shop. I've tried half a dozen of them, this one was the winner. If I were to judge just by the look, maybe I would have chosen something more "flashy"...but I couldn't pass this...

Talk me out of buying a new bass (or: an essay about GAS)

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to answer...I've read all of the replies, but I think that some posts in particular are key to this matter. First of all, I realize that when talking about money, context is everything. To clear things up: buying a relatively expensive instrument won't...

Talk me out of buying a new bass (or: an essay about GAS)

Definitely! Still, it can be interesting hearing the experience of who has been there, done that...

Talk me out of buying a new bass (or: an essay about GAS)

I have a full time, stable job which gives me a steady income. To me, music is, and most probably will always be, nothing but an hobby. If nothing goes terribly wrong, I will become dad before next winter, and it's something that will undoubtedly change my financial priorities (especially re:the...

Pics of you playing your bass - Part 3

Yup, full time short scale player here ;) It began with the JMJ, then I realized Mustangs are so comfortable to me that I bought a Squier version just to keep in our rehearsal room. My 2nd backup is a long scale (Sire V5), but it's tuned BEAD and I've been using it to play heavier music

    Nordstrand Acinonyx or JMJ Mustang?

I've never tried a Cat, but I'll agree with what someone already said on this thread: if you lean more towards the Pbass tone and "philosophy", definitely the JMJ will get you that in spades. I'll never sell my JMJ, and I've been trying really anything I could lay my hands on recently (Fender...

What’s the best bass sound you ever recorded live or in studio?

Fender Mustang JMJ with 4 years old TI rounds > SA C4 (for the synthy and octave parts) > Darkglass Hyperluminal (FET "all buttons in" mode) > TC Electronic Spark booster > Tech 21 Qstrip and whatever was used by the sound guy after that... Personally, I just happen to like the end result a lot.
