Definitely yeah. I really wanted a NOS sunburst Jazz initially but couldnt find any already made. I tried a relic'd sunburst, a pro 2, and my relic'd OW and it just stood out to me so much. The relic'd sunburst was a ltd edition 1960 model too so were essentially the same model but somehow the sound and feel was just a winner. There was nothing bad about the sunburst but they do say some fenders just 'have it' and I was lucky to find one. Its getting more play than my Fodera elite at the moment! Though they're both used for different bands currently.

After having given this a great deal of thought, I've decided to treat myself with a brand spanking new Fender Custom Shop. I've tried half a dozen of them, this one was the winner.
If I were to judge just by the look, maybe I would have chosen something more "flashy"...but I couldn't pass this one up.
Fender Precision 57 Vintage Custom, wide fade 2TSB, time capsule relic package (which means basically no relicing at all, just flash coat nitro lacquer with no buff). Factory strung with GHS Precision Flats 55-105.

I like it, very classy. It's great that you were able to try it out, as well as compare it to others. The CS stuff is special.
I was just talking about these wide burst cs p basses bc i just picked up a 63 p bass, with a burst similar to yours. Love it.

That is beautiful! I eyed one of these for a long time, but this week I pulled the trigger on a well cared-for AVRI 58 P - again with the flash coat.
My recent gas has me looking for a Pino P. Aupposedly the best CS P made to date… someone talk me out of it! How do they compare to a real early 60’s p?

I've had this bass for a few months now. When I want to play a traditional 60's Fender Jazz Bass, this is my go to.

I recently owned one. It’s super nice, but in my opinion, not worth the significant upcharge compared to other CS basses. You’d probably be just as happy with a different model early 60s CS Precision.
All Custom Shop basses are so expensive now, shopping used is the way to go.
Ok gotcha. I was probably going to buy used anyway. Let’s say there was something like a 64 custom shop p and a pino sitting at the same price, which one would you pick?
I’d want to play them both if possible, and if not possible, I’d try to find out as much as possible about each one. Generally speaking, any Custom Shop will be a good instrument so it’s more about the individual instruments than the model line. For me, it’s largely about the wood resonance and the feel of the neck.
I gotcha, thanks for the wisdom yall. Im trying to decide between the Pino and the new 66 P at Empire Music. That pr a slab board pre cbs p. Will probably be a couple months before I make a decision. A decision on precision, lol
I haven’t played a Pino but I have a FCS Sean Hurley and it’s amazing and slightly cheaper than the Pino. Also, it has hand wound pick-ups, not sure if the Pino does. So I say go with a Hurley!
Got a couple of really nice shots of my CS Ltd edition 1960 relic'd Stacked knob jazz from last weekend.
It's become my primary gigging bass for when I don't need a 5 string and it sounds amazing. I recorded/filmed a live session for the songwriter I'm currently playing for and the tone sounded brilliant, it's not ready yet but I'm keen to see it.

I just noticed that the '64 retails for $4850, and the Pino is $5500. Not a big difference there if you're comfortable with the price point, so I guess it depends on what style of music you're typically playing. The Pino definitely nails the Motown/R&B vibe if you're into that.
