Well, it's not really a genre. "Mizrahi" is a name given to music performed by Israelis with non-Ashkenazi ancestry, or with an Oriental accent/singing style, more or less. Many of Zohar Argov's hits are, like other "Mizrahi" songs, broadly speaking, Greek music translated to Hebrew.

Just to add to my previous reply - I think that trying to find your own sound while just starting is a mistake, which would cause you lots of frustration, and might even hold you back. You must first try to emulate other bassists, in my opinion - so you can see WHAT makes them sound the way...

To create a unique sound you need a versatile one. I am happy with my own Precision tone, a result of EQ and own technique. If you don't like what you do with it, I'd recommend a versatile one, like the Jazz and experiment with it. But to get a unique sound you better first know what that sound...
