2022, now mainstream pop songs go well below open B string!

one that i noticed when i heard it on the radio was Dua lipas don't start know.. It has that low B in the chorus. A tight sound so you need a good 5 string bass to pull that off. But I find no need for anything lower in any genre.. Madonnas just like a prayer utilizes a octave pedal to play...

    Get Off My Lawn: Downtuning

He said that when people kept on singing acapella after the band had stopped playing and don Potter noticed that after a while the untrained singers would be flat to A440Hz to a degree that matched up with A4=432hz. My own voice is the same.. in the Middle part of my voice.. G#3 to D#.. the...

    Get Off My Lawn: Downtuning

The 444hz (528Hz) love frequency is BS. Don Potter Who talked about A432hz pitch said something very profound which i also recognize.. If the worship band is playing in A440 in Church when the band stops playing the audience will after a while drop in pitch down Close to 432hz tuning

    Anyone tuning at 432hz?

If there was any advantage eating healthy and exercising staying away from candy and softdricks and grease dripping fries.. everyone would. They don't..

    Anyone tuning at 432hz?

I have always felt that standard pitch is slightly sharp/hyped on vocals when you are in your middle register towards the "break" (second passaggio). Both on my own voice and of many singers I have met through my long "career" as a rock and pop musician playing covers. I hear this "tightness"...

McCartney and old time needle jumping (??)

Old thread.. But I think they tuned to 435hz on the first two albums as they were using an old piano at the studio as pitch reference. This piano could have A435 stamped on the frame as a lot of 1850s to 1920s pianos uses this "continential" tuning. I prefer 435hz to 440hz when singing. It is a...

Guitar insists on playing down a half step - What's the Deal?

Half a step down due to aging voice is common.. This way the entire band Who played in standard tuning before plays everything in the same fret positions but Now 100 cents lower..

    Short Scale adventures

Scott Whitley (youtube bass player and tutor) mentions the problem with the low E on a short scale bass if you do not fit "good" strings on it. On his 30.75" chowny sig. bass he test a set of GHS steel strings 44-63-84-106 and mention that the notes F# to A# can be bit indistinct and hard to...

    BEAD or 5 string?

I have had access to both 4 string and 5 string when stranding in as a bassist (guitarist Who loves bass).. And prefer the 4 string. Somehow i try to mess with the EQ to balance the strings on a 5 but end up getting a thin sounding D and G string. The timbre or output of that low B seems to off...

Double Bass The history of "A"

This list lacks one major event. The setting of A4=435Hz in France 1859 by 6 famous composers and 2 physicians. This standard with 12-TET was popular and adopted in a lot of European countries the following 20 years and at the Vienna congress in 1885 decided as the European standard, aka...

    Is Markbass really all that??

The New Markus miller amp from MB might be more for you.. Its EQ centers are way different than the standard MB heads. Has a mid centered at 500Hz and a High mid at 1400kHz. Probably this latter freq you want to dip. I have a celestion guitar speaker with a weird peak at 1.6-1.7kHz.. Immposible...

    Is Markbass really all that??

Nasal mid frequencies. For guitar 800Hz can give a nasal sound but bass.. Bass sits an octave below guitar.. Mid nasal sound on bass should be around 500Hz.. 2kHz for bass guitar is clarity. My problem with some bass cabs are this region. The crossover at 3.5kHz on a horn combined with a speaker...

    Is Markbass really all that??

Nadal upper mid? From their amp or their cabs? Their amps has a 360Hz low lid pot and a High mid pot at 800Hz.. And you cant dial out the upper nasal mids??

Guitar insists on playing down a half step - What's the Deal?

Try 430Hz at home.. That is around 40 cents down from 440Hz . This alternate tuning fits My voice to a tee. It is Hard to explain.. My vocal passagio lines up perfectly with C4 =256Hz.

    4 String vs 5 String

The 4 vs 5 string debate.. Endless. . For me it is the sonic separation between the instruments and voice that counts.. The deeper the voice/melody the deeper the bass needs to go.. The problem with the low B, C and C# note is that they can start to clash with the frequencies of the kick drum...
