thank you for replies so far.... I'm looking to replace my variax bass .... which appears to have died, sad to say... variax worked via 4 piezos so i guess they dealt with each string individually, as does the Roland GK system (??). The sound samples on the 3 Sigma site sound ok to my ears...

thanks people lf 33 I used a variax acoustic live for some years and hit problems with the electronics - so not just based on irrational fears. Line6man impressive looking job - did you hit any snags or was it straightforward to do?
