    How to use modes

You know, in the early days, between all of this, study methods and dodgy YouTube videos, you can end up doing mental gymnastics at the detriment of your playing. To quote from another post "You can play jazz without any formal education in theory. You basically just have to be able to hear...

Double Bass What do YOU think is our hardest orchestral excerpt?

Maybe you have answered your own question...the hardest audtion piece is the one that stretches your personal playing ability the most.

Double Bass Arco technique basic question

Double Bass Arco technique basic question

    Double Bass About community orchestras

Thanks all. Section lead duties are somewhat easy to identify, but I still appreciate the responses. Other duties fall in a bit of a grey area - for example is the orchestra manager also responsible for finding replacement players (in conjunction with section lead?) and chasing players that...

    Double Bass About community orchestras

Hi all Being part of a community orchestra (from an organizing perspective) relies on committees, volunteers and others to do a lot of the behind the scenes work. To this end, keen to hear your experiences, specifically: Are you part of the organizing committee? Is there a role for an orchestra...
