If your guitarist has a 100 Watt Marshall stack, you shouldn't even be thinking about a combo. You need need a head/cab/s set up to keep up with 100 w guitar amps.
I've had my P bass strung TB with Labela's for the last 4 years. It's my primary bass, and has been played a ton during this time, with no issues. I'm not recommending this by any means...it works for me....YMMV.

I don't find any bass line boring if the band is grooving the song. If it bores you...you shouldn't be playing the song. This makes for a boring bass player.

I use what sounds best to me, and that's an all tube amp. I don't normally need 300 watts, so 100 watt tube works perfectly for me. I do use a lighter 212 cab. YMMV
