Thanks again. I was nervous about getting a bass unseen from "down under" but it went like clockwork. The only slight flaw is a barely visible crack in the lacquer but if the vendor hadn't pointed it out I may never have even noticed it. Awesome sound, especially now it is strung with thomastik...

Are there lots with the pickguard (ie non-export) for sale in Japan? I'd love a medium scale non-export and I don't mind the fees but the ones I see on ebay appear to be hijacked links.

Thanks again, does the EMG HZ pickup give the same sound as the EMG Geezer?

Oh, just a quick extra question. Occasionally when playing I get a metallic "pop" when the E string touches the pickup pole. Is something wrong and will new pickups solve that problem? Thanks.
