Maybe that's a guitar player lacking a bass player's feel....most are guilty of that. Hendrix played bass on Watch Tower I believe and to my ears, it sounds a mess......and (at the risk of lighting a rocket)..I always thought McCartney sounded like a guitarist playing a bass

let's give a shout out to the late great Gary Thain (New Zealand).....my influences are quite a few of those British bass players listed, but there are so many great USA players and not they're not just great players, but great innovators. I think it's fair to say that US players really drove...
