Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

Hey Buffalo Man, I struggle with the same grouchiness! Thanks Bro!!

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

That applies to Rush. They had their early and up to 2112 stage. Then the amazing period of Hemispheres, through Exit.. Stage Left. Followed by Signals through A Show Of Hands. Then Vapor Trails, amazing... For me Floyd was incredible from Wish You Were Here throuigh Final Cut. Before WYWH...

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

Yes! Much about their more humble attitudes contributed to their success and remaining very close friends while having great success. Hard to think of another band that has done this. "Look, we are musicians, it's really not that noble of a pursuit" Geddy Lee. And they split all royalties evenly.

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

This is very representative of my thoughts on Floyd, one of the most amazing bands of all time. See folks, there is no reason for any negatives. If you like The Beatles' Love Me Do more than Strawberry Fields, that's great. We are supposed to have different opinion as we all have different...

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

I respect your opinion, though mine is very different. For me, Money is a cool little tune, but Tom Sawyer is among the best songs ever recorded that really moves my soul, emotions and makes me play air guitar-bass and drums.

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

You are allowed your opinion you don't need to take it personal when people disagree. I've given the Syd era stuff tons of chances because their 70's and 80's stuff is amazing. Never moved me at all and I cannot agree with opinions like yours that he was so innovative. But who cares...

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

imo The Wall is one of the best produced albums ever. Bob Ezrin and his team did amazing work. Kiss Destroyer is another amazing production by Ezrin. If only he'd produce my stuff. Ironic to this thread, it is hugely influenced by Floyd and Rush.

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

Bro! Rush is not metal. Differing opinions are great as God did not create us to be puppets! Reading the posts many say Floyd puts them to sleep. Who cares, enjoy both! Or not...

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

I'm no fan of Rand, and I have repeatedly listened to their albums and it does not appeared to have negatively influenced me. But I certainly do not care for their naked man pentagram.

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

His blah, blah, blah speech was odd, refreshing and makes most people laugh. Good balance as the other two did the respectful, serious thing... And the Ayn Rand thing was mentioned by Peart on one lyric (or album), way, way, way exaggerated.

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

No offense, but Syd songs are typical 60's fodder. Not too different from how the Moody Blues and tons of others sounded, but with a bizarre twist. Grateful for Syd because that was the situation that led Waters to become the phenomenal writer he became. Meddle and Dark Side are very...

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

I must be an anamoly. I can think of two songs from Dark Side, yet every song on Moving Pictures and more. But yes, Floyd has sold way more and wins in popularity. But I don't see either as better in the end..

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

Neil Peart writes incredible lyrics, as does Waters. Floyd music is very simple, but Gilmour was incredible at adding emotion and flavors. Seriously though, talent wise Rush are devastatingly better musicans. Floyd had a dictator (I love Waters songs, lyrics), Rush was a true democracy which...
