    Randall RB100 compressor

I have an older version of the Randal RB100 amp (the model without the eq sliders). I was wondering if anyone has one and could answer a question. When I turn on the amp, the compressor LED is green. If you turn the compressor down it still stays green. Only if you really crank it does the LED...

Necessity is the mother of invention.

    I'll give the G-string a quarter turn.

I would give them an "A" for creativity and thinking outside the box.

    Collapsible cart recommendation?

I have a small outdoor gig coming up. I hurt my back over a year ago, and it is hard for me to carry equipment any distance. So I'm thinking of buying a collapsible cart to move my gear (small amp, bass, music stand, seat, etc.). I don't want a dolly or a hand truck. I want something with a...

Band becoming LLC, paying members as contractors... Run, or okay?

You might as well trademark the band name, then license them to use it. ;-)

Band becoming LLC, paying members as contractors... Run, or okay?

As a side story, Richard Wright was fired/quit Pink Floyd during the making of The Wall album. He was then rehired as an employee, not a full partner in the band, for the subsequent live shows. He was the only musician who made money on that expensive tour since he had guaranteed pay.

Band becoming LLC, paying members as contractors... Run, or okay?

When the two formed the LLC without discussion, they knew there would be objections or at least tough questions. So they bypassed everyone and did an end run. Now they are in control, and I fully expect them to call the shots and determine pay. They will probably use the LLC as leverage against...

    Another buyer beware thread

I almost fell for a scam, too. My nephew tipped me off to Google image search, where I found the exact item he was selling on a different platform years ago. He also wanted me to send money through an unsafe platform...I forget which.

Band becoming LLC, paying members as contractors... Run, or okay?

I agree with others that an LLC is a good idea for a regular gigging band that makes serious money, but not for occasional weekend warriors. If you were not allowed in on the LLC decision, do you really think you will be allowed to make other future decisions about the band?

    Sterling bass battery box improvement

Even the hard plastic battery snaps work better than the flimsy plastic ones. I have broken a few cheap snaps on pedals. Luckily, I was at home and had about a dozen replacements (also flimsy).

    Sterling bass battery box improvement

Actually, the cheap battery box I bought lets me insert the battery with the wrong polarity and still close the lid. It did not do anything to my Sterling's preamp, and there was no signal output. I think the battery box on my Lakland will not allow me to install the battery incorrectly.

    Sterling bass battery box improvement

I guess it is possible to blow a preamp, especially with an 18-volt design. Just think of how many times people have touched the battery snaps momentarily on the wrong polarity without issues. I know I have. Some fancier battery boxes will not let you insert the battery incorrectly...

    Sterling bass battery box improvement

I have never experienced or heard of a preamp being blown by a battery installed with the correct polarity. Preamps typically have diodes for this very reason. I removed the battery and reinstalled in wrong on my Sterling, then reinstalled it correctly without any problems.

    Sterling bass battery box improvement

The worst is when the battery cover is screwed on or under the control plate! Then you have to hunt down a screwdriver. The battery clips let you change a battery with one hand. I was playing a gig where my output kept getting weaker and distorted, so I kept turning up my bass and amp. I...
