My 4001 was exactly like that.With the tailpiece lift,crappy pot metal Grovers,noisy pickups I finally stopped being a fanboy and traded it for a brand new Jazz.I should have done it years ago.

After getting my American Professional Jazz Bass a couple of months ago,I am done buying basses for awhile.
