Agreed. The neck feels amazing though, the bass is super light. Was looking for a fretless bass, that was different than what I had and it checked all the boxes for the price I was willing to pay.

Probably should update. Put batteries back in the bass and it began acting up again. Sweetwater replaced it. New one works as advertised.

Pulled the batteries out, ran it through my amp, switched pulled out for passive and it worked. Weird that the low batteries the bass was shipped with can cause that much havoc, but anyways, bass is working.

When I get a second, I’ll pull the batteries out, and see what it does. When I first searched the problem before posting here, the info provided by the AI was incorrect. Stated that the batteries were required even in passive mode.

Asking if I had the switch correct is fair. I had to double check via google, but yes the passive was selected correctly. The weird part, it would randomly start producing sound, but it would sound just like it did when active was selected. New batteries did the trick.

From my understanding, “bypassing” the pre amp when pulling the active switch for passive, it still runs though the pre amp. So low battery can cause weird things to happen.
