    What do you think of your friends bass? Size, weight, overall feel? I completely agree that used is the way to go. You will get more for your money. I would also recommend Craigslist. Unless someone here has a bass you might like.

    Want downzising

    I have a Shuttle 6.0 and a 9.0 and really like both. The 6.0 I use with two small Bergantino cabs. The 9.0 I use with two Dr. Bass cabs. I use an Aguilar Tone Hammer with both. I am very pleased with the sound.

    Amp repair

    Greetings all: I have an SWR 750 pre-Fender that needs a repair. The problem is when turned on, it will make a pop sound, then I see a small amount of smoke coming from behind the power switch. Any ideas what causes this? Thanks.

    Country headache

    Go to a music store and try an octave pedal. If you are satisfied with the sound that will probably be your simplest quick fix. If the work justifies it, then you should get a five string.
