What do you eat the day of a big gig?

Back in the day it used to be a 6-pack and a Xanax... Thank God those days are over!

How do you come to terms with knowing you are losing it?

Ditto to that, Todd and his videos are awesome! I have learned quite a lot from Mr. Hamby, although he doesn't know it... Well maybe now he does lol

How do you come to terms with knowing you are losing it?

Don't know if this was mentioned but have you tried a 30" or 32" scale, it's made a world of difference for me...

Friday fun. You have $10k to spend on a bass/basses…

Go to Norms and get the best all original P or J bass that spoke to me! Besides having a great player it would be a solid investment!

    Bass mod regrets

Most definitely... Back in the early eighties I was gifted a 1976 Gibson ripper all original... Me being the heavy metal punk that I was I immediately ripped out the original electronics and put in custom active EMG's. The worst part of it is when the luthier asked me if I wanted the old parts...

But do I DESERVE a "nice" bass?

30 year closet musician with a past history of gigging but doing nothing for the last 20 years but bedroom concerts...Own a few "cheap" basses that I love... Also have a 1976 Gibson ripper since high school.... One day I saw an absolutely gorgeous Carvin Exotic wood, set neck, cool inlays...

Picked one up in a pawn shop for 3 beans a while ago...looks good, sounds good, balances nicely, has good fit and finish...I Cant I get used to the thin neck or tight string spacing no matter how hard I try... I want to love her but its not happening...

I can't go through all these posts and I'm sure someone has said it but I can't resist: Jaco and Jamerson only needed 4 strings!!! Carry on!;):bassist::woot::roflmao::cool:

Being embarrassed by basses you love?

You and me both pal I have my1976 Ripper since high school in 1978. I love it to death and ultimately will be buried with it... I just wished that my heavy metal adicted younger self didn't rip out the original electronics and have active EMG's put in! That wouldn't be so bad except I told...

    Help! Speaker Cab nightmare!!!

I agree and now after the pages and pages of responses I realize I should have worded the entire thing a different way. I totally respect Jim and his craft. I am a first-time poster, I'm not a professional musician and this is not about money. I could buy 20 of those cabinets if I wanted to...

    Help! Speaker Cab nightmare!!!

Two brand-new speakers did the same thing... first the 500 watt 4 ohm and then the 250 watt 8 ohm
