I have a '96 Sterling with a Lane Poor MM and I'm using an OBP-3. The bass is huge (use sparingly), but the mids (@400Hz or 800Hz) tighten it up. Works for me, YMMV. Good luck.

I went through a half dozen pickups in my '75 P. Must be swamp ash because it's just under 8lbs and I just couldn't find the right combination until I got a Custom Shop 62. All my P prayers were answered!

The trick is to make sure your technique doesn't choke the notes. Super low action = super light touch. Mine is kinda heavy so as long as each note sings freely I say yes. Easily determined acoustically.

I have an '84 BB3000S and the four words I would never use in the same sentence are "lacking punch and dynamics". I hope the new bridge solves the issue unless it's something in the bass itself. I bought mine in 2010 and can't imagine not having its punch and dynamics. Good luck!

In the early 90's I bought my first P, a '75 buttercream with a maple neck and all straight except for a gold BAII bridge. It weighs just under 8 lbs with an excellent neck. Over the years I've gone through a half dozen pickups until I found the Custom Shop Vintage '62. Now it's mine forever.

My Warmoth PJ was built in the 80's and fitted with gold Schallers. I noticed recently that I finally wore out the gold finish on the ears and somehow managed to put a slight bent on the G, so I decided to replace with Hipshot paddle ears. Not seen often, never mind in bling.I like 'em!
