    XR18 and music issue

The original poster wanted to play tracks (music) from an i-Phone via the AUX inputs 17 and 18 of an XR18 and have the audio come out of the mains. I had the same problem. Signal registered on the AUX input but no output from Main. This video solved the problem for me. I hope it helps...

How to deal with horns behind vocalists

Again thanks for all of the replies. I did think about gating but there are times when the vocals are softer and no horns playing. Seems like a tricky situation to me, at least at my experience level. Yes as many said, moving the horns away from the vocals is the most practical solution. I...

How to deal with horns behind vocalists

I agree with everything you say. I observed this band before I took the job using basically the same arrangement but it was outdoors and the stage was much larger. They did not have any significant feedback issues but I did not know if they had any monitor issues. I talked to the BL before...

How to deal with horns behind vocalists

Thanks for the replies. Music stands could be a solution except the horn players would have to move back a bit to accommodate them squeezing them against the keyboardist who was pinned against the back wall. Possible though. Aiming the horns is a good idea. I did some quick research before...

How to deal with horns behind vocalists

No real bass content. Moderator move if desired. I did a sound job for a horn band (first time with this band) in a smallish indoor lounge performing mainly 60's pop, a bit of funk, and Motown. Nine-piece band including three lead vocalists and a three-piece horn section (trumpet, bone...

    Condenser mics and airport screening

No problems on my outbound leg, although they did examine my bag with the mic for awhile. I did not see them open the bag though. I hope to have the same luck on my return trip tomorrow.

    Condenser mics and airport screening

Thanks for the info. I am carrying a Sterling MXL 990 condenser vocal mic (I think that is the model number) which is shaped quite differently. Now that I think about it, I do transport in a plastic case which maybe a problem.

    Condenser mics and airport screening

A quick and most likely unnecessary question: I am going to be traveling to do a quick recording session and I am planning to take my best condenser vocal mic with me as carry-on luggage (I will not have any checked luggage). Is there any issues with having this mic go through an airport...

Social media. Am I missing out?

I am in the camp who highly dislikes Facebook. However, I decided about a year ago to get an account so I can see what bands are playing at local venues. In my area, it seems clubs, restaurants, etc. do not have or have static websites which are rarely updated. However, they post current...

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on, and on....

I have a LM 250 BL which I have owned and used for the last 2-3 years. Love the sound with my GK Neo 1x15 III. I use this setup for indoor bar and small outdoor shows. I also take it as a spare amp for larger shows. I have always been concerned of the lack of a limiter on the LM 250 BL so...

Sending line-level signal down a snake's mic cable

Thanks for the responses. It turned out, I never even pulled the mixer out of the case. The show was suppose to be an outdoor show but the venue changed it to a mostly enclosed pavilion. I would up use using the mixer/amp directly. It worked out fine.

Sending line-level signal down a snake's mic cable

Thanks. This is my thought also but you never know. I did check all the snake lines for connectivity (I had to solderer one of the mic connectors) with a mic.

Sending line-level signal down a snake's mic cable

I have a situation where I am doing sound for a band, normally done from the stage (their choice, not mine) but now they want me to bring a snake and mix from off the stage (now 9:40AM, show at 5 PM 2.5 hours away). There are several issues, but the main issue I am dealing with is their...

Recording the gig/rehearsal and ACTUALLY listening to it?

My situation is similar to @mrcbass. I am in mostly cover bands and I record (DR-05 on a tripod) just about every rehearsal and gig. The arrangements, keys, and of course, sound, are usually fairly different than the originals. I make play lists generally from the latest versions of each song...
