That’s actually a quite clever idea! Thanks for the pointer-we sometimes meet with other bassists from around the country and then it would be quite suitable to capture the pre‘s in one go. Will now look into this as well.

FWIW - I replaced the preamps in all my EHBs and am now a much more happy camper. ;-) I have a Noll TCM 3 band EQ in my EHB1000S with the BH2s and a parallel/series switch. This gives a great versatile bass that also goes into "muddy" or "vintage" territory. I have a Delano Sonar 3 band EQ...

Did you install the Uni Pre? Do you have pictures of the cavity? I am a bit lost on how to fit the Uni Pre into this tiny cavity!?

That’s exactly the problem- those don‘t fit the cavities of the JP55op.

I never found a replacement 5 string P. Do you have a model number and where did you get that pup?

Guys, the L-2000 bridge pup and the Kiloton can‘t sound the same. The Kiloton has normal Vol/Tone passive electronics while the L2K is active and even in passive mode has a different schematic. Then the narrower neck etc. … It is what it is - I fear you need both.

I would go for pickups with blades - that way you can ignore string spacing of the pole pieces if they are wide enough.

Forget it, you can replace the J pickup but I couldn't find any replacement for the 5-string P. So rewinding it would be the only option. A new wiring harness is cheaper and will most probably solve your issue.
