Replaced truss rod and changed to unlined ebony board with no frets.

I use the parallel humbucker mode the most. I will say that single coil does sound great (especially if playing with a pick and going for a rock tone). To my ear it has a bit more grit. In my funk band, I like the humbucker tone better. The series or OMG mode is often just a touch too much for me!!!
I agree though, the bridge of the L-2000 and the Kilo really do not sound the same.
Guys, the L-2000 bridge pup and the Kiloton can't sound the same. The Kiloton has normal Vol/Tone passive electronics while the L2K is active and even in passive mode has a different schematic. Then the narrower neck etc. …
It is what it is - I fear you need both.
I'd bet a bundle that if they were all wearing the same new strings, and the same riff was played by the same bassist through all, no one would be able to differentiate between 2 solid and 2 chambered asat's if listening blindfolded. I just love the look of a semi-hollow instrument

I doubt it....my guess is different years/ runs/ possibly new CNC program? Whatevs.....I loves me an ASAT bass.
White one is 2000, the belair green is 2015. Both quartersawn necks, birdseye board on the 2015.
2001 Fretless that got away. Tried to get it back last year but the buyer gave up fretless and sent it to his brother in Morocco. Wish I'd kept it and had the terrible plastic inserts (that would come loose) replaced with ebony like I did with the 2nd neck that came with the white one. That fretless neck is on my Lynx and love that now I can hardly see the lines.

picked up a 95 ASAT yesterday, holy sh!t what a killer bass, also grabbed a Tribute L2500 last week, these things are some of the best imports I've come across, closer in feel and tone to the US models than any other brand out there. I have a Sterling Ray34 that feels NOTHING even close to my EBMM Stingray, I'm very impressed with the Tributes, G&L did a great job with them.
Trans orange is my absolute fave finish, and since I sold my Lakland 54JJ and am playing mainly BEAD 4 bangers, I am without one. A fretted version of that right would be the perfect G & L aesthetic for me.
These are beautiful instruments, especially that aqua/maple, but how do they balance on a strap? With the upper strap pin so far back it looks like neck dive might be an issue.
It all depends upon the body weight. My ASAT weighs 8.2 lbs & has minimal neck dive that's not noticeable to me when playing with a neoprene strap or on the knee with my plucking arm on the upper edge. That said, this body shape is not optimal for those who obsess over perfect balance
G&L changed the f-hole shape/size and position on the ASAT BASS by 2005 or 2006. The Belair green bass above is the newer one.

By the same time they swapped the 3-bolt micro-tilt neck plate to the current 6-bolt attachment (and so they did on the SB-2).
