G&L Club Part 7

I'm enjoying my Tribute Kiloton a lot. The fit and finish are really good considering it's one of their lower-end instruments, and I'm very impressed by how resonant it is overall.

The pickup is a beast! I ended up lowering it way down from how it was set by the previous owner, and even then, it's easily the hottest passive sound I've ever heard. Parallel mode seems to be the best balance of tone for my taste- series is a little too dark and bassy, and single-coil is a little too thin.

all the G&Ls are poly, tribute or not as far as I know?

Here we go again! Ever since I traded a nice G&L L2000 Blue Burst with the maple binding for a bass I thought I wanted needed? Wanting to find it and try to get it back. While I was looking on another website,thinking someone might have decided to sell,I saw this 90's G&L Asat Blue Burst with the maple binding,so made an offer and it was accepted. Not my L2000,but it is G&L and blue burst maple binding. So now having to sell couple to cover this one. I forget my G&L Club number. Pictures are previous owner.

Looks good. I'm sure someone will like it. If you (or anyone on here) happens to find a L-2000, preferably in a red color (quilted maple would be awesome), matching headstock, quartersawn neck and 1.5" at the nut, I'd love to hear about it. Not too much to ask for right? Oh, and a decent price - $1,200 or so. :D

Just got the 90's G&L Asat blue burst off brown truck this morning,and in great shape. Now that got it out of the case and looking the neck,it is quartersawn neck,according to what I have read about the pattern of the wood grain. Has a slight forward bow in the neck. Seller said the truss was moving but seemed a little cushionee but did not want to tighten anymore? Not an expert,but may let friend mine that is a luthier check it out for me. Just added pictures of neck,and back of the body.

I'll assume you tuned it to check it wasn't shipped tuned a couple steps high. Get the neck looked at right away. Hopefully you purchased from a site than has you covered but check out the return time frame. For instance, returns on Reverb are now a week. With a forward bow, if the truss is all the way tight you aren't going to want to mess with it and the seller would have known it's toast. You don't want to take the nut off and put a washer behind it unless it's a bass you're already invested in or got it cheap.

Try loosening the nut 1/2 to a full turn first before tightening. Even though that rod is much stouter than the newer two-way rods (that can snap without much effort) don't force it. The 1 1/2" nut quartersawn G&L is my favorite neck, 6 of mine are quartersawn.

Hopefully it's OK, it's gorgeous.

This similar finished '97 arrived yesterday. Two-piece solid birdseye vintage tint neck (no separate fingerboard).

Thanks,there was full disclosure from the seller,and negotiated the offer close to half what others were priced. Going have a friend of mine who is a luthier here in the area check it out for me.
