Hopefully the local luthier will be able to take care of it for me. I just picked up a set of Labella flatwound strings 45-105. Might be too much tension? According to the empty package in the case with the Asat,was Ernie Ball Slinky's 40-90 gauge roundwound strings on there now.
Might be. You should try LaBella Low Tension Flexible Flats as the name would suggest.

Is Andromeda their holoflake? Crazy that there were two L2K's posted in a row with that finish.
Yup, it is. @FearNoEvil65 inspired my build honestly from the G&L group on Facebook. I just went with a maple fingerboard and black blocks as the only differences.
It's a great finish. I considered that one myself when I was ordering mine.
My L-2500 empress is 8.6lbs.
I recently saw a used 2023 empress L-2000 being sold by some dealer like Upfront which was listed at 8.0 lbs.
My SB-1 with the troublesome neck has been back at Leo Towers for three weeks now. Quietly telling myself that it could be another three weeks at least until someone investigates it, let alone sorts it out. Patience, Ricky.....

They also use a different species of maple which I think is less dense. Also, is the neck profile more shallow than a G&L? I was vaguely interested in their Superlight Jazz, but the very thin neck specs plus probably wanting to toss the preamp and pickups....

1 5/8inch nut width, 9.5inch radius, quartersawn, Ebony fretboard, white pearl block inlays, graphtech nut, matching Andromeda headstock, model logo delete.
Fabulous! I had that size spec on my lb-100, but I like the 12" radius on my L1k even better.
(Too many decades of playing 14" radius Rickenbacker basses I guess!)
Major dilemma here - it's just not the time to spend money, but I just came across an '81 L-2000 in good condition, something I've wanted for years.
If I were to get it, I have to do it by tomorrow morning or it will be gone. If I do do it I will have to reciprocate in equal measure financial pain with something Louis Vuitton for the wife, to double the financial impact.
I don't think these things come up so often, may never see one like it again.

I don't know about the four strings, but my Sandberg's neck has a similar profile to my M-2500. I'm not sure how the measurements compare, but they feel very close. If anything, the G&L's profile might be a touch shallower. The Sandberg's neck is slightly wider than the G&L's, by about 2mm at the 21st fret, and it has an extra fret.

This last weekend I got to finally pick up my bass from Nordstrand.
I purchased this a few weeks ago (post also in this thread) and loved the bass instantly! Even getting to play it at my biggest show to date! However, it desperately needed to be set up and had a mystery noise coming from it so I decided to go to Nordstrand and visit their tech Mo. He determined that the nut for the B string was just cut too low and that was making the string rest on the first fret. That issue got solved! In the process of talking about setting up the bass, we got on the topic of pickups and preamp (being surrounded by them at the shop has a real way of shifting that conversation), and I had told him I really like this bass but I am used to an active bass and I just don't care for the clack of the pickups (they sound lovely as normal jazz pups but just not my 100% preference). Mo then informed me that in order to add a preamp I would need to route out holes in the back and on the side to add a battery box and a side output jack because of the lack of excess space in the preexisting routing. I was a little weary of doing this to a bass that at this point has been in my possession for a week. I said lets change the pickups and I will see what that does for me.
Talking to my girl later in the night about the trip to Redlands and telling her what I was doing and how I wasn't adding the preamp, she just looked at me with that "I know you really want to do it so just do it". I texted Mo right away and it was on! 2 days later he confirmed the knob control layout and bam it was done! The sad part was that I wasn't able to make the drive to pick it up until this last weekend (Which he knew and we had discussed initally). The FOMO was real.
Well, it is in my hands now and wow! This is an absolute machine of an instrument. Just wanted to share the fun story and modifications to you all!
Knob layout is: stacked volume/passive tone, blend, push/pull low and high mids, active passive switch, and stacked treble/bass
Can't wait to tackle every future show with this

Which version of the J Blades is that? I had the Warm And Wooly in an Ibanez SR885LE with a Nordstrand Preamp. I really liked the combination.
