warm and wooly were my favorites too. although, to be honest, I never tried the clean and clear.
Contacted the seller,about the Blue Burst Asat. Decided didn't want to chance snapping the truss rod. Talked local luthier here in Dayton,Ohio area. Nut was so tight couldn't even unloosen to try and put a washer on to maybe get the slight bow in the middle of neck adjusted. Seller told me I was on my own if I tried to repair. So seller told me to return for refund. Really wanted to keep,but didn't want have more in it than what it was worth? It is on its way back to the seller.

Nice, she's a keeper.This last weekend I got to finally pick up my bass from Nordstrand.
I purchased this a few weeks ago (post also in this thread) and loved the bass instantly! Even getting to play it at my biggest show to date! However, it desperately needed to be set up and had a mystery noise coming from it so I decided to go to Nordstrand and visit their tech Mo. He determined that the nut for the B string was just cut too low and that was making the string rest on the first fret. That issue got solved! In the process of talking about setting up the bass, we got on the topic of pickups and preamp (being surrounded by them at the shop has a real way of shifting that conversation), and I had told him I really like this bass but I am used to an active bass and I just don't care for the clack of the pickups (they sound lovely as normal jazz pups but just not my 100% preference). Mo then informed me that in order to add a preamp I would need to route out holes in the back and on the side to add a battery box and a side output jack because of the lack of excess space in the preexisting routing. I was a little weary of doing this to a bass that at this point has been in my possession for a week. I said lets change the pickups and I will see what that does for me.
Talking to my girl later in the night about the trip to Redlands and telling her what I was doing and how I wasn't adding the preamp, she just looked at me with that "I know you really want to do it so just do it". I texted Mo right away and it was on! 2 days later he confirmed the knob control layout and bam it was done! The sad part was that I wasn't able to make the drive to pick it up until this last weekend (Which he knew and we had discussed initally). The FOMO was real.
Well, it is in my hands now and wow! This is an absolute machine of an instrument. Just wanted to share the fun story and modifications to you all!
Knob layout is: stacked volume/passive tone, blend, push/pull low and high mids, active passive switch, and stacked treble/bass
Can't wait to tackle every future show with this

Bummer that it didn't work out, but I don't disagree with sending it back. Hopefully another blue burst will turn up for you soon.

I thought I'd check here first before heading to the classifieds. I think I want to sell my Kilotons. Any interest from this club? Both 1.5". The fretless is Pine and I can't remember what the fretted is. Both 2020/2021-ish. The fretted was new from Bass Central, the fretless a store demo from a shop in Cali.
Weil, first thing is asking for interest is okay, but to sell on TB, you need to put an ad in Classifieds. You don't want the mods unhappy with you. You should be able to sell them here.
That fretted one is to die for!! You'll sell those quickly

I knew I could talk about selling but not that I needed to link to a classifieds posting.
Got a call yesterday morning for a gig that evening. Had to learn about 10 songs in day of, but we pulled it off! Primarily just family and friends in the crowd, so low pressure gig.
Primarily used my LB100, but used my kiloton 5 for a handful of songs. That kiloton cut through the mix like butter! Maybe too much… had to turn it down considerably.

I assume that, due to the nature of the series/parallel circuitry, it's impossible to swap a balance control in place of the pickup selector switch on a L2500? I'd love to be able to run the bridge pickup with just a little neck pickup in the mix, and vice-versa.

It's doable. The coil switching happens before the pickup blend switch, so you just take the outputs of the coil switch to a blend pot instead of a switch.
As to the actual usefulness of that arrangement, it's hard to say. Blend pots add additional impedance to the circuit that loads the pickups even more. The passive bass/treble controls may not work the same due to the additional loading.
I did modded mine to VVT
This is interesting to me, because I've been thinking about a Custom Shop L-2500 with pickup blend, which I find extremely useful on my M-2500. I wouldn't want to give that up. Or, maybe they would do an M-2500 with a passive mode and passive tone control. I think it would sound fantastic run passive. Either way, in an ideal world I'd like a lightweight G&L five with passive mode and pickup blending to complement my Sandberg TT-5 Superlight (J5). Empress rules.
How is the L-2500 with the VVT setup?
Didn't really utilise the VV as much as I would on a JB5 Empress.

So that MFD on your Kiloton is that powerful even without the preamp that's on the L series basses? Wow. I was wondering about that, I'm considering a Tribute fretless Kiloton. You've given me more to consider. Thanks!
