Well I compromised. I loaded the old pickguard with new electrics. Just desoldered the pickup wires from the pots and removed the works as an assembly. The pots were both "grindy" The volume pot was stiff and seemed not to register the first quarter turn or so, the tone was extra stiff and...

The bridge and pickup covers luckily were in the case, along with the screws. The strings of course are getting changed when I do a complete setup. I hope it was my girlfriends son that put the strings on like that, and not the shop that (didn't) set it up and fix the pots and jack for her

I was told it was a 72. The serial says it was built in 70 though. I think it may have been bought new in 72 and that might be the confusion

Any suggestion on the best way to go about that? I'd prefer to keep that one too and was considering epoxy for plastic. Just concerned that it has already shrunk a bit. Thanks!
